As I was picking out music for my Freshmen choir this year, I found that I had an entire stack of music that I was bored with. I have completely fallen into a rut of doing the same thing, again and again. The music is still great, but I needed a change. Fortunately, NCDA has resources available for exactly this thing!
Go to www.acdanebraska.org and look around our fantastic website. It’s really great and getting better all of the time. At the top of the website you will see a link marked Leadership that you can follow to the next link, NCDA R&R Chairs. These are our leaders in specific areas. Whether you are looking for men’s or women’s choirs, church or school, you should be able to find at least one person to contact for help. These are all good people with a desire to help our state grow.
If you would rather find repertoire lists, those are on our site too! Look under the Resources tab and you will see NCDA Repertoire Lists. Every R&R area has their own tab with recommendations and descriptions for you to browse through. If you can’t find a selection, or think that something should be added, feel free to contact the individual chair and ask!
If neither of these options end up working for you, I would recommend going back to the leadership tab and opening the NCDA District Reps page. There are nine individuals assigned to different sections of our state. These folks are tasked with being there for you. Use them! There is a map at the top to direct you to who you are supposed to be working with.
I have spent hours with the leadership of our organization and I am proud to say that every one of them is ready and looking to help. They are quality individuals with resources and ideas. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of them and ask for help. Good luck on finding your new favorite piece!
